Digital Media Subscriptions

All current LACC students, faculty, and staff are eligible for a free New York Times digital subscription! The New York Times offers breaking news, multimedia journalism, and investigative reporting on topics ranging from world news, to climate change, to technology and innovation.

Access Duration

• Students: Access is valid through December of your expected graduation year (entered during activation).
• Faculty and Staff: Access remains active for up to four years from the date of activation.

1. Open nytimes.com in your browser
2. Click Log In at the top right
3. Choose Continue with work or school single sign-on
4. Enter your LACCD email address

• Students: @student.laccd.edu
• Faculty/staff: @laccd.edu

5. Sign in with your LACCD Portal/SIS account credentials.

*Each time you need to log in via the web, choose “Continue with work or school single sign-on” from the login screen. For app access, see instructions below.

After activating your NYTimes.com account, you can download the apps with these links:

• New York Times app at nytimes.com/app 
• New York Times Audio App for iOS

Note: SSO login via mobile apps is not yet supported. After activation, you can use a NYT connected email/password or social login. If you have not yet created a NYT-specific password follow these instructions.

1. After following the instructions above to log in from your web browser, from the NYT homepage select Account > Account settings
2. Under Account information > Password, click Update
3. Select Forgot password
4. You will receive a code via email. Enter the code and set a secure password
5. Go to the app on your mobile device and log in using your email address and the new password

You can keep it and still get free News access. This way, all your subscriptions (like Cooking or Games) stay in one account. If you currently pay for a digital News subscription, start by cancelling your paid subscription, then follow the instructions below:   

1. Log in to your existing New York Times account via your current login method (eg. email/password or social login method)
2. From the homepage, click Account > Account Settings > Email and Settings
3. Under Connected Accounts select "Connect" next to Work or School.
4. Enter your LACCD email address

• Access via nytimes.com and The New York Times app for iPhone and Android.

• Cultural coverage and criticism on the arts, books, music, movies, style and sports.
• Guidance on wellness, travel, finances, real estate and food.

• Newsletters on topics you care about. Sign up.
