It's important to cite sources you used in your research for several reasons:

1. Citing sources gives credit to ideas that are not your own

2. It provides support for your argument

3. Citing sources avoids plagiarism

• Exact wording taken from any source, including freely available websites
• Paraphrases of passages
• Summaries of another person's work
• Indebtedness to another person for an idea
• Use of another student's work
• Use of your own previous work
